About Me

Hi, I'm Ilanit, a Sydney-based Paediatric Occupational Therapist with over 20 years of experience supporting children and families. I am a registered Occupational Therapist with AHPRA and hold a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and a Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

I have extensive experience supporting children with ADHD, ASD, developmental, school readiness challenges, learning and participation difficulties, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and social skills. My approach is warm, strengths-based, family-centred, and evidence-informed.

I provide therapy in homes, preschools, and schools, working closely with families and educators to help children build confidence, independence, and the skills they need to thrive in everyday life.

How I can help

Practical, play-based therapy tailored to your child's goals and daily life.

Assessments

Comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to identify your child's strengths, challenges, and goals across areas such as sensory processing, emotional regulation, executive functioning, social skills, motor skills, handwriting, and daily living skills. Recommendations are tailored to support participation at home, school, and in the community.

Individual Therapy

Personalised therapy sessions designed around your child's interests, goals, and everyday routines. Therapy may focus on emotional regulation, anxiety management, executive functioning, social skills, sensory processing, motor development, handwriting, self-care, and independence.

Parent, School/Preschool & Team Collaboration

Working collaboratively with parents, educators, and other professionals to provide practical strategies, support goal achievement, and ensure skills are carried over into everyday environments. This may include school observations, consultations, reports, and participation in team meetings.

ADHD Support

The Cog-Fun Approach

Ready to turn daily struggles into seamless routines? Let’s help your child build confidence, independence, and real-life skills that last.

I incorporate the evidence-based Cog-Fun (Cognitive-Functional) approach into my occupational therapy sessions. This family-focused method is specifically designed to help children with ADHD or executive functioning challenges thrive in their everyday lives.

It is important to recognize that ADHD is much more than just a difficulty with sitting still or focusing. It is a complex neurodevelopmental profile that impacts almost every aspect of a child's daily life—from emotional regulation and making transitions, to organizing schoolwork and participating confidently in social situations.

Cog-Fun directly focuses on these daily challenges by using fun, occupation-based activities to build self-awareness and practical skills. Together, we focus on:

Practical Strategies

Learning how to "Stop and think" to become less impulsive and transition from automatic reactions to goal-directed actions. This helps children develop the planning and organization skills needed to manage tasks like smooth morning routines and schoolwork.

Positive Engagement

Building your child's self-worth, confidence, and a positive identity through play and meaningful activities.

Environmental Anchors

Setting up routines and reducing distractions at home or school to set your child up for success.

Because you know your child best, parents are a vital part of this process. We work as a team to weave these strategies into your daily routines, helping your child improve, participate, achieve, and enjoy their everyday life.
